The Weekend Barbecue Buffet Dinner ($76++ for adults) at Grand Copthorne’s Food Capital is pretty wide on variety. There’s a cold seafood section (i.e. oysters and shellfish which I’m not a particular fan of), sashimi station, indian food, laksa station, local delights (like chili crab and mantou), spaghetti station, a couple of stews (beef, seafood), roasted meats and salmon, satay and otah, ice cream station, a very nice range of desserts (including a chocolate fondue), fruits and a coffee machine.
Basically, (almost) everything you could ask for. The sashimi was pretty good and typically fresh, while the desserts ranged from a chocolate pudding to macorons to various bite-sized cakes – all very chocolatey when you take the fondue into consideration. The laksa met expectations, though the mantou was a little bit too hard (probably because it’s been left there for awhile already).
What did surprise me was how tasty the roast beef was, as well as the sauce used for the salmon. This buffet only felt good enough because of the wide range of food available, and the fact I had a 50% discount.
